THE DATA ARE PUBLIC, THE RISKS ARE REAL
The results of the NIH-funded Trans Youth Care study – which launched in 2015 under the leadership of Dr Johanna Olson-Kennedy – have finally been published. It is remarkable that the final report was only released after the Oversight Project filed a lawsuit. Without these efforts, these data might still have remained hidden.
The study followed roughly 95 young people aged 8 to 16 on puberty blockers, tracking depressive symptoms, emotional functioning, and parent-reported behavioural measures over a 24-month period. The results showed no significant improvement.
Mental health metrics remained essentially “stable”, which was a gentler way of saying that the severe psychological problems patients experienced before these controversial treatments remained severe afterwards. There was no evidence of the positive clinical progress repeatedly cited to justify these interventions in growing children. On top of their severe psychological issues, these medical interventions have now inflicted lifelong physical harm on these children.
This was clearly not the outcome the study’s lead investigator had envisioned. As The New York Times reported in October 2024, Olson-Kennedy and her team withheld the data for years, arguing they did not want the results to be “weaponised”. Millions of dollars in taxpayer money funded the research. The public paid for the truth. Publication was delayed because the results undermined their preferred ideological narrative. That is a profound betrayal of scientific integrity. And of our children.

ETHICAL BOUNDARIES ARE STRETCHED EVEN FURTHER
In August 2026, the journal Medical Law International published the article “The Fiction of Prior Knowledge: Rethinking Informed Consent in Adolescent Gender-Affirming Medical Care” by Ezra Oosthoek and colleagues, co-authored by Annelou de Vries.
Now that the narrative that gender identity is fixed – persistent, early-onset, and stable enough to justify somatic interventions – is no longer tenable, academic damage limitation is underway. In this publication by Oosthoek, de Vries et al., a request is made to adjust the ethical and legal framework surrounding informed consent. Gender is allowed to be “in development”. Informed consent is allowed to be uncertain and process-oriented. This is not in line with the law, which demands prior certainty and truthful information. Clinical practice fails to deliver this. Instead of adjusting the practice, the validity of informed consent itself is brought into question, with a call to loosen its standards.
This is yet another academic attempt to move the goalposts now that gender care is under international scrutiny. With this publication, they further undermine their own practice, and the only responsible response to this should be an immediate moratorium on somatic gender care for minors and young adults. But why stop there and not include adults as well, for what remains of verifying the truth behind self-reports? Patient safety is clearly subordinate here to the desire to treat!

HHS REPORT WOLVES IN WHITE COATS
On 13 August 2026, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published the report Wolves in White Coats: How Doctors and Hospitals Pushed and Profited from the Fraud of “Gender Medicine”. It is a scathing indictment of how more than 225 hospitals and healthcare systems in the US established paediatric gender programmes, profiting not only ideologically, but above all financially, from experimental treatments on minors.
Amongst other things, to secure reimbursement from health insurance funds, the indication for puberty blockers was often recorded as: “endocrine disorder, unspecified.” As if gender distress were a hormonal problem: this child who would like to belong to the opposite sex has the wrong sex hormones.
